Mountains Humane Society has worked tirelessly to provide safe and loving homes for pets and Jessica M. Is endlessly dedicated to saving as many animals as possible. Mountains’ Humane Society Pet Rescue is a non-profit pet rescue, run by a group of volunteers coming together to better the lives of the domestic animals on our mountain range since 1975.
If a specific type of animal is not available at the time, a special request can be entered into our “Pets Wanted” binder. This binder is maintained to enable contact with a potential adopter when an animal matching the request becomes available at the shelter. We house approximately 50 dogs and 50 cats. We have been the only Humane Society in Baxter County for 40 years. Our Humane Society receives no government funding and is supported by donations from our members and members of the community.
Affordable Veterinary Services
Our goal is to find a loving home for every healthy, adoptable pet. We can achieve this by knowing more about the animals that come into our care. Surrendered pets are received by appointment. The Animal shelter keeps a record of lost and found pets.
Eral mom cats move their kittens often and she may be in the midst of moving them and on her way back to these seemingly abandoned kittens. It is not unusual for a mom to leave her kittens for several hours looking for food. MHPD responds to all after-hours animal calls including animal bites and stray dogs. Fill out an adoption application and contract. All adoptions include spay or neuter, vaccinations, de-worm, and rabies.
The Humane Society operates an animal shelter where all animals receive adequate food, water, shelter, and medical attention. An attempt is made to place all animals in homes where they will receive proper care. The Humane Society also operates a thrift shop to assist in securing funds necessary to operate our facilities. When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
